When you add an action to an automation, you configure how and when it runs. Email and task actions share the same timing controls, then have their own content settings.
Action Timing
Every action runs relative to the automation's trigger. For each action you can set:
Delay - Enter a number of days, choose Before or After the trigger event, then set the trigger time.
Immediate - Enable immediate send (for email) or immediate creation (for task) to run the action right after the previous step, with no delay.
This timing works like the relative scheduling used for tasks - the action is dated automatically from the trigger event.
Configure an Email Action
In the Add Steps modal, select Email. An email action card is added.
Select the card to open its configuration panel.
Set the timing (delay or immediate), as above.
Choose an email template to load its content.
Select recipients:
All Travelers on Trip - Sends to everyone on the trip.
Primary Contact - Sends to the primary contact only.
Enter the Subject and Message.
Insert variables to include dynamic contact and trip data, add your signature, and attach any files or forms.
Click Save.

Configure a Task Action
In the Add Steps modal, select Task. A task action card is added.
Select the card to open its configuration panel.
Set the timing (delay or immediate), as above.
Configure the due date rules for the task.
Choose a task template to load its content, or set the task up directly:
Task Name - The title of the task.
Assigned To - Who's responsible.
Task Description - Details of the task.
Urgent - Flag the task as urgent.
Email Notification - Notify the assignee by email.
Click Save.

Action configuration is what gives an automation its substance - the exact email that goes out or task that gets created, and precisely when. With timing tied to the trigger and content drawn from your templates, each action runs automatically and consistently every time the automation fires.
