In this article you'll set the price of a proposal component: a flat rate, per person, or, for hotels and cruises, per room or per cabin, and even on a nightly basis. TripLoft does the math for you and shows a running total as you go.

Open the Pricing & Booking tab
Open the trip, open the proposal, then click the component on the canvas. The edit drawer opens from the right with these tabs: General Info, Room or Cabin (lodging and cruise only), Media, Attachments, Pricing & Booking, and Invoice. Click Pricing & Booking. Changes save automatically as you go (a "Saved" indicator shows at the top of the drawer).

Set the invoicing method
Under How is this activity invoiced?, choose one:
Individual Item: the component is priced and invoiced on its own and appears as its own line.
Part of Trip Package: the component's cost rolls into the overall package price instead of being billed separately. You can learn more in Create & Manage Packages.
Choose a pricing model
Under How is this activity priced?, the available models depend on the component type:
Activities, flights, ground transfers, car rentals, ferries, trains: Fixed total or Per Person.
Lodging: Fixed total, Per Room, or Per Person.
Cruise: Fixed total, Per Cabin, or Per Person.
For lodging and cruises, a second selector to the right sets Total or Per night.
Total vs. Per night (lodging and cruise)
Total: one price for the whole stay.
Per night: enter a nightly rate. TripLoft multiplies it by the number of nights and shows the math under the fields, with the result in Activity total.
How each model calculates
The calculation line shown under Pricing details depends on the model you selected:
Fixed total: the amount you enter is the total.
Per Person: rate multiplied by travelers, shown as a calculation line (for example, "2 travelers x $5,000").
Fixed total, Per night: nightly rate multiplied by nights.
Per Person, Per night: rate multiplied by travelers and nights (for example, "1 night x 2 travelers x $5,000").
Per Room / Per Cabin: each room or cabin type is priced on its own and the totals are added together (see below).
Enter pricing details
Under Pricing details, fill in the fields. The labels adjust to the model you picked:
Total price (including taxes & fees): changes to "Total Price / Night", "Price / Person", or "Total Price / Person / Night" depending on the model.
Taxes & fees: the portion of that total that is tax and fees.
Currency: defaults to USD, changeable per component.
A calculation line and the running Activity total appear at the bottom of the section.
The total price already includes taxes and fees. The Taxes & fees field only breaks out how much of that total is tax, it does not add to the price.

Price rooms and cabins (lodging and cruise)
When the model is Per Room or Per Cabin, every room or cabin type you added on the Room or Cabin tab appears as its own pricing row under Pricing details, labeled with that room or cabin name (for example, Standard Room or Ocean View Cabin). Price each type independently using any supported model.

Rooms and cabins as fixed inclusions
When the rooms or cabins are fixed inclusions, they are all treated as confirmed, and the component total is the sum of every room or cabin. If you add several rooms priced per cabin, you enter pricing for each one and the final price is the total of them all.
Rooms and cabins converted to options
If you convert rooms or cabins into options (so the client picks), they are no longer fixed inclusions. The price shows as "Starting at" the lowest option, the trip price appears as a range, and a callout reading "Make cabin selections to calculate total activity price" with a Make Selections button appears until a choice is made. Once a selection is made, the chosen room or cabin's price stays and the rest are discarded. See Manage Room and Cabin Options for the full options flow.

How unselected options show as a range
Until a selection is made, by the client or by you on their behalf, for room or cabin options (or inline options), the component and overall trip price display as a range on the proposal canvas and on the Bookings tab. Once the choice is made, the range resolves to a single total. See Understanding the Bookings Tab.
