A proposal fills up fast: flights, lodging, activities, and transfers stacked across a dozen day sections. This article is a dedicated guide to reorganizing all of it once it's in, moving items around, swapping whole sections, and using bulk actions to move faster when you're restructuring a big trip.
If you haven't built out a proposal yet, start with Build a Basic Proposal first - this article assumes you already have sections and components on the board.
The mental model: sections and components move differently
A proposal board has two levels, and each one is reorganized in a different way:
Trip Items / Components (flights, lodging, activities, and so on) are freely draggable. Pick one up and drop it anywhere, earlier or later in the same section, or into a completely different section.
Sections (Trip Details, Day 1, Day 2...) are not freely draggable. You can only swap a section with the one directly above or below it, using a menu action rather than a drag.
Keeping that distinction in mind explains most of what follows: Trip items have full drag freedom, sections have a constrained, deliberate swap instead.
Reorder trip items within a section
Hover over an item row. A grip handle (six dots) appears on its left edge.
Click and hold the handle - or anywhere on the row, and drag up or down.
Drop it in the new position. The change saves automatically; there's no separate save step for reordering.
This works for every row type on the board: standard components, Option groups, and the individual options inside an Option group's slots all reorder the same way within their own list.
Move a trip item to a different section
Drag an item past the bottom or top edge of its current section and into another section's drop zone (including the empty "Drop a component here" placeholder). Releasing it there reparents the component to the new section.
Moving a trip item into a different day section shifts its own date fields to match that section's date. For example, dragging a lodging component from Day 2 into Day 3 updates the component's date to Day 3's date so the two stay in sync — you don't have to edit the date by hand afterward.
A few types of components move as a package rather than individually:
A flight added to the trip does not have this restriction, each leg (for multi-leg "Separate" display) is its own row, but only the parent flight carries the price; other legs read "Included."
A cruise's linked Port components live in whatever section matches their own arrival date, not necessarily the cruise's section, moving the cruise itself doesn't automatically relocate its ports.
Reorder sections: adjacent swap only
Sections cannot be dragged to an arbitrary position. Instead:
Click the ⋮ menu at the right of a section header.
Choose Swap with previous day or Swap with next day. Only the option(s) that are actually possible for that section's position appear — the first section only offers "next," the last only offers "previous."
When you swap two sections, only the components inside them move. Each section keeps its own date and title in place — swapping Day 2 and Day 3 leaves "Day 2" and "Day 3" (and their dates) exactly where they were; only the itinerary content underneath trades places.
Note: Sections are tied to the proposal's overall duration (one section per day), not free-floating blocks you can insert, delete, or drag into any order. That's set on a per-day basis in Edit Proposal Settings. Adjacent-swap is the one reordering tool sections get precisely because their count and dates are derived from the trip's duration rather than stored as an independent, reorderable list. |
If the trip uses "Add Dates Later"
When a proposal option has no fixed start date (day-count mode instead of calendar dates), its sections carry no date at all — just "Day 1," "Day 2," and so on. Because the swap menu only appears for sections that have a date, the ⋮ swap menu does not appear on any section in a dateless proposal. Give the option fixed dates in Edit Proposal Settings first if you need to reorder day sections this way.
Trip Details never swaps
The Trip Details section at the top has no date either, so it never shows swap options — it's a fixed, trip-wide section, not part of the day sequence.
Bulk select: duplicate or delete several at once
Beyond one-at-a-time drag and swap, the board has a multi-select mode for handling several components at once:
Hover any component row — a checkbox appears in place of its type icon.
Check as many rows as you need, across as many sections as you like. A floating toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen showing how many items are selected.
From the toolbar, click Select All to select every selectable item on the board (or Unselect All to clear it), Duplicate to copy every selected item in place, or Delete to remove them all in one action.
This is the fastest way to clean up or restructure a large proposal — for example, selecting every activity you dropped as a placeholder and deleting them together, or duplicating a cluster of components you want to reuse on a later day instead of rebuilding them from scratch.
What's not possible
Sections can't be freely repositioned - only adjacent swap, as above.
Sections can't be dragged into a specific mid-board position — the only way to add one is the Add Section button at the bottom of the board, which always appends a new day at the end.
